The last few weeks since waking up in his room have been a whirlwind, but some of the newness is wearing off and restlessness is settling in fast. There's only so much poking around he could do without going in circles. Speaking of circles, he's circled back to some of the shops, peering in some of the windows. He hadn't bothered to really go clothes shopping yet, aside from a few handouts other favored had gifted him. He's still garbed in the newbie trousers, rolled up to just below his knees, and a loose fitting shirt, and probably sticking out like a sore thumb.
"Huh..." As he passes by a large window display, Lucas finally stops to peer in. The style wasn't his thing, really, but they were hiring and all this free time is starting to eat at him.
Ducking inside, Lucas peers around, trying to locate the owner. "Hellooo?"
Daniel comes over from where he's hanging clothing when he hears Lucas calling out. He's a tall, thin man wearing an elegant black blouse and pencil skirt ensemble, with dusky silk stockings and jade-green heels to complete it. "Good afternoon, can I help you find something?"
He takes a look - very cute, though still in the clothing he got when he woke up. "Are you looking for something to wear?"
"Hey there," Lucas grins, giving the owner a quick glance over. They definitely look the part for a place like this, right down to their classy heels.
"Oh, uh, actually..." The grin turns a shade sheepish as he jabs a thumb over his shoulder towards the window. "There's a sign out front? Are you still hiring?"
He has no idea what he's getting into, but why not jump in with both feet?
"I am, yes." Harry and Corbin are wonderful employees, but he's always happy to add another. They could use more coverage for when the two of them get distracted.
...though this new boy is also pretty cute. It may not help the situation.
"I don't exactly have a formal application procedure, but why don't you tell me why you're interested in working here?"
Oh boy, Lucas hadn't thought that far ahead. For several long moments he could only offer a sheepish grin.
"Uuuh, the clothes look pretty snazzy?" The grin pulls wider, and a touch embarrassed. "But I'm gonna be honest here, I don't really know anything about clothes. Or, well. The rest of it either. I've been thinking I needed to land a job and the universe gave me a sign. Literally."
AKA he has no idea what he's getting into, but he's willing to learn, if the eager tone is anything to go by!
Daniel waves a hand. "That's fine, I have pamphlets. I do appreciate the honesty, though." He smiles warmly. "Keep it up and I think we can make it work. Come on."
He'll turn towards the kink section of the shop. There's no attempt to hide its purpose - floggers, whips, chains, harnesses, handcuffs, they're all on display on rustic wooden racks. "When you look at all this stuff, how do you feel about it?"
"That's totally fair," Lucas follows along behind Daniel to the other part of the shop. He tails behind a few steps, eyeing his surroundings and the assortment of things he's only seen in pornos.
With one brow raising he turns back to Daniel, "Kinky's fine by me." he crosses his arms over his chest, shoulders shrugging, "I've never used any, is that's your next question. Not a lot of college kids own this stuff where I'm from, you know?"
"Fair enough. The college students I knew did, but they were of a particular sort." He chuckled. He'd never made it to college - he'd left school at sixteen. "All right, so, this is the shop, toys on the left, clothes on the right. That pair of red shoes opens a door to a dance club. As a member of the staff you're free to go down there on your breaks for drinks or a snack, though we also have a break room."
He looked around, trying to figure out what else he needed to show him in the front. "The elves are over there - don't bug them, and never thank them for anything. Magical reasons, not... ingratitude." He still threw a mildly frosty look in the direction of the pair of handsome elves behind their counter, which was matched by one of the pair of them.
To be fair, neither had Lucas. The local college campus made for a decent stream of hookups, though! "Red slippers...Wouldn't that be more Glinda's thing?" He smiles - as a member of the staff - this was the easiest interview ever.
"Uh," A quick glance between Daniel and said elves confirms he should at least take the man at his word. "No talking, got it." He could keep track of that much.
"So I know you said you had pamphlets for the clothing stuff, but is the other side of the shop the same idea or is it more hands-on?" With a cheeky grin, Lucas turns away from the elves to take in the sight of the whole shop again.
"Glinda doesn't actually know about it at all, and apparently she's not supposed to. There's a matching entrance in her shop, though." He doesn't take much care with the secret, but somehow the witch hasn't figured it out yet. He truly doesn't care if she does.
Daniel laughs. "It's as hands-on as you want it to be, but yes, that's what the pamphlets are for. And yes, you will have to read them." He went behind the counter to grab a few of them to start with - 'Risk Aware Consensual Kink for Beginners', 'Slap, Slap, Kiss, Kiss: An Introduction to Impact Play', and 'Hello, Sailor: Bondage Basics'. "These should do to start."
"Huh, why's that?" He can't help but ask. Especially if it's in the same vein as the no talking rule to the elves.
"Hah, well, it sounds like there's a pop quiz later?" Lucas leans his elbows on the counter, eyeing the pamphlet titles with brows raised. "Okay, whoever put together these titles is a genius!"
He loves them, Max would probably love them too. His grin is giddy just thinking about it. "I can keep these, right?"
"I really have no idea? It was part of the letter I received when the fairies decided to give me the place. I haven't spent that much effort trying to prevent it, if I'm being honest." He hasn't actively told Glinda about the Slipper and he mostly uses his own shop entrance these days, but he couldn't really care less about it.
"Thank you, I put some thought into them." The pamphlets are clearly hand-printed with care, with simple illustrations peppered through them. "And yes, I may quiz you. Go ahead and keep them, I've got more copies, and a few others you can read when you're done with those."
"Chalk it up to a fae thing, I guess. I'll keep that in mind, too." There has to be a practical joke in there somewhere, if they're anything like the little buggers from back home.
Now Lucas is really smiling. So Bossman here put these together? At least he has a sense of humor along with what looks like good information. He's feeling more at ease about this job already.
"Awesome, will do. I guess the only thing left is when can I start?"
